hey everyone, monsieur Adam was helpful enough to RT it yesterday but i'm remiss not to put up my own post on polycount, it's been too long.
i'm live streaming my work on our game called Matador, an isometric mech action game.
for building the vehicles in the game i've been using a lot of kitbashing techniques and procedural object-space texturing techniques in max, i think there's a lot interest there for fellow polycounters. i've also been doing some character portraits in zbrush. all good stuff. come in say hi, i answer any questions about workflow that people have.
and here are a few early screenshots to give you an idea of what the game looks like in motion, too:

thanks everyone who was on yesterday--and if you miss it, don't worry, i stream most work days, and archive the last couple of broadcasts. at some point i'll be doing timelapse versions of older casts as well.

Serious workflow question: How I make steampunk?
steampunk, how to: go back to 2001 with that worn out style, kid.
www.twitch.tv/gausswerks LIVE again. zbrushing a statue and some more environmental design. free copy of batman arkham origins going to be given out today!
thanks to arcitech and pczac for showing up so regularly, and last night's hilarious heckling.
and we're back up now! www.twitch.tv/gausswerks
for everyone else who showed up today, here was the final set of vehicles. going to have to wait til tomorrow for them to be posed up and exported.
still not sold on the highlight gradient on the windshields... probably just going to have to see how they look in the game lit and adjust accordingly.
fitting and breaking up the semi trailers was especially grindy, but turned out pretty well:
and layered:
meanwhile www.twitch.tv/gausswerks is back up, new and improved! new mic, chat+now playing music support.

Smart layering gives a good base to work from, but it can only go so far. These pieces could benefit a lot from more localized texture work, concrete stains where it makes sense, rust, graffiti etc... The statue is a really good piece with lots of texture information, but I think the other ones lack a bit of character because it's easy to tell that they are mostly proceduraly textured.
back on, working up more burbclave pieces. come say hi!

The programmers of Matador obviously have a lot of skill/experience.
I am impressed!
Justin.tv just opened a Creative channel, where you can actually get listed and attract more viewers (40-100). Twitch doesn't list you anywhere since you're not playing a game :P
I know a partner manager at Justin.tv, I'll tell him to hop in your channel and set you up if you'd like.
back up doing some more 3d stuff, come say hi www.twitch.tv/gausswerks
