Zbrush 4r6 Curves Problem

Hey guys, got a small error here when trying to edit my curves line for my insert mesh brush. I created a separate polygroup as you can see and used the curves frame mesh option in the stroke panel to get a curve line around the border. My problem starts when i try to delete parts of the line as i only want the curve line to be along the bottom edge. When i take the topology brush and hold alt to try and delete parts of it (as i had seen in tutorial on Pixologic's website) it creates the problem you can see below. Any help will be massively appreciated!
