How to make holes by alpha channel

I saw a lot of cloths with holes and ı know they made from alpha channel but how???

save the color texture in 32 bit with an alpha channel (in wich u draw white for solid and black for 100% transparent ) , there is no gradient .Gl

Since I am dealing with a situation that involves alphas, I shall ask here.

Does Omniknight support alphas? If so than I must be doing something wrong, because any time I import my pieces the alphas simply do not work. They just show up as black/white.

Am using 32bit tga's.
