Seams seen in texture [Max]

Hi guys,

I've spent the day unwrapping a model using seams. I then exported the model into mudbox as a test and painted randomly onto it. I then take the diffue map and put it on the model in 3ds Max. I can see the seams within the texture:

This isn't a huge problem as the render doesn't show the issue and it's only in the viewport. I was just wondering why this is though just in case it's down to luck that it doesn't show in the render. How do I prevent this from happening? I have read about padding and using xnormal. Just wondered if there was anything I should do when unwrapping to prevent this.

Thanks :)

Max likes to display mipped versions of your actual texture for performance reasons.

    Try this:

Customize > Preferences... > Viewports tab > Configure Driver
Under "Download Texture Size," check "Match Bitmap Size as Closely as Possible"
    Reload your bitmap file

    Thanks for the reply.

My "Configure Drive" button is greyed out for some reason.

The default Nitrous drivers can't be configured for some reason. If you switch to one of the other drivers (Direct3D, OpenGL) with the Choose Driver button, the configurations should be available. You'll have to restart Max before the driver change takes effect.

I don't use Max enough to know how to resolve the issue without switching away from the Nitrous drivers. I wonder if custom shaders bypass the texture mipping. Perhaps someone else has other solutions?
