THIS IS THE VIDEO... well maybe not, it seems I have no luck showing off good video. I will however show off the skybox, I think it deserves it, even if its blurry as all hell. https://vimeo.com/80623630
Also, I will post more rock break ups later on. thx
Wow man! I'm blown away by your rock stuffs, they look absolutely gorgeous. The flat renders of the stairs remind me of obsidian, what type of rock did you use as reference?
My only complaint is that the engine shots have too much fog, they're covering up your beautiful texture work!
Love the skybox as well man, look forward to seeing more of your work!
really lovely flaky rocks, been trying to replicate the same thing for my rocks in mudbox. will be following this thread closely. I duno if this is a compression thing or just UDK. Its just a bit disappointing to see all those nice sharp details lost in game imo.
So all the rocks where done with a combination of Zbrush and 3D Coat. Coat is a really great program, if you want to make some really cool organic stuff, rocks, concrete, road destruction, and much much more, take a good look at Coat, awesome stuff, and super fast!
- Mr Significant,
Its just a render out of 3DS Max using a shellac material

Yeah, its a shame really. UE3's normal maps are surprisingly weak, and they need a ton of help to start doing their job. So I tried to figure out a good solution,(tried out all the different compressions, read up on it) and this is the best I could come up with
Cry is built for more out doorsy stuff, but UE3 is a prefect tool for leaning shaders, particles, and really for landscape too. I had a ton fun time figuring all this stuff out. Its great to have a free engine that is really well documented that you can sandbox stuff in! So that's why I went with it.

Here is that run down... this is the high-poly sheet, it doesn't reflect the low sheet. Just a render
