Hey there,
I started a sketchbook thread in the P&P section before noticing this dedicated sketchbook forum so I am restarting one here.
I am mostly self taught after being introduced to 3D at uni (Alias StudioTools anyone?) and continue to try and teach myself as much as possible with a view to get a career in the games industry.
As I am studying on my own I am the only one looking at my work so would appreciate any and as much crit as possible please.
To start - this was the project I showed in my previous thread (included here just to get all the stuff together - thanks for the crits on that thread!)

And my latest project - a leaf blower converted to a flame thrower,
because when the zombie invasion happens how many of us have a handy flamethrower to hand?!?
This is the HP.
I've taken the straps into mudbox and have added some material definition

This is the LP rendered in Marmoset Toolbag 2 (first time using it- gotta say I'm impressed big time)
Need to play around with the material definitions a bit more
aside from those tiny little issues, your acheiving amazing realism in these renders, im really... blown away.

The bakes are just from 3DS Max; model is exploded for the NM and diffuse then unexploded for the complete map. I just use the complete map output instead of rendering an AO. I take the complete map into photoshop, adjust levels/contrast and such-like then use nDo2 to render an AO map from the NM, combine the two and done! - bit long winded but I find the base for the diffuse is a bit cleaner and easier to work with - personal pref really.
