Im working on this weapon (http://www.polycount.com/forum/showthread.php?t=126822) in marmoset and im wanting to do a 3 point light rig/setup. I saw EQ's tut on the marmosett homepage but it doesnt say anything about light color, intensity, radius, etc.
3 Point lighting is a basic concept, not a specific set of rules. Color, intensity, radius, etc are going to vary depending on exactly how you want to light it. Give it a try and see what you come up with.
Forcing a 3 point lighting setup onto your models is a mistake for most people. Start with a single key light and a fixed camera. Using the single light establish forms. Then work on ambient/fill contribution, and then lastly add accent lights to show off planes/forms/reflected light you are trying to convey.
