Ascent is a Unity level I've been working on the past 5 weeks as a student project - all made by me, including the music and voiceovers (not counting usage of royalty-free textures etc.)
I think this looks quite pretty but your presentation is not helping it. The gigantic logo obscures too much of the pictures and they seem a bit too dark overall, not sure if this is the vignette or not.
I wouldn't mind seeing how you went about making the floating islands.
Nice job.
Point taken - I originally created those pictures as wallpapers, so they were not quite meant as presentation material to begin with. I'll see if I can replace them with more accurate ones!
And thanks
EDIT: As for the floating islands, I made a few basic meshes in Maya and made heavy use of displacement maps to add detail without sacrificing too much performance. All islands on the level are different combinations of only 5 modules - there are some issues with overlapping meshes which brings down the performance a bit though, so I'm looking into fixing that.
This is quite pretty. Only critiques would be the rust texture looks a bit off. Perhaps the scale of it? And the trees look a bit flat. The grass looks lovely, though. And I really like the clouds.
The trees are definitely something I'm looking into remaking from scratch entirely, not quite happy with how they look. Glad the clouds look nice, they took quite a while of adjusting to get good
