Diamonds and all things shiny

Hello everyone!

My partner and I have been all over the internet searching on how to create a decent looking Diamond within UDK. Everywhere that we've found the object is always rendered in Maya/Max/Blender etc.

We saw the awesome glass tutorial found on Epic's site however, that only got us about 50% way there.

So we would like to reach out.

1) Have anyone been able to achieve a diamond within UDK?

2) Would you be so kind as to share how it was done?

3) Thank you for your time! Stay Classy.

Hey Tica, have you checked the "material compendium" at udn? It has a very clear and wide range of explanation about every single expression and the using of them. A few things that I can recommend to try out:

    Cubemaps/scene captured reflections
    Specular glossiness and reflection glossiness
    Distortion
    Fake HDR
Detail normalmaps for detailed distorting and refletions
    Colored reflections
    Transparency

I hope these can help. Anyway, if you could post a pic about why your diamond looks not enough good would help. Posting a pic about your material setup would also.Good luck :)
