I've been trying to save a GIF image using photoshop, but i always get these white areas where using a soft eraser brush around the edges. Is there a way to remove this but still keep the faded effect around the edges?
I've had this issue for a while now and haven't been able to work around it

Try PNG (download the SuperPNG plugin for Photoshop) - that'll allow for transparency or alpha.
if you really want to get into the nitty gritty stuff APNG (animated PNG) should do what you're after. But it's not widely used and support is pretty much minimal.
Refering to this, it tells me to place the PNG.8bi but i can't even seem to locate that anywhere on my computer. Any ideas on how to install this?
im using CS6
Edit: Nevermind, fixed. Kinda sucks how adobe didn't make transparent adaptable for gifs
This has nothing to do with Adobe. It's just a limitation of the GIF file format. It's from the 80's back when alpha blending was a bit too much to ask of the average PC.
Save to a 32-bit PNG and it'll look fine.
