Hey guys!
Today I made a model of a hat, and I created cuts in it> extruded them> resized them to look like the stripes in this picture (the actual model is much lower poly):
But when I import the item using the importer, the parts I cut are transparent:
Any idea why? Thanks!

Maybe vmt settings, make sure trans isn't checked.
Nothing unusual in the vmt settings, and I just used a plain grey color for now to see if it works.
It's not the first time this is happening. Earlier this week I created Grenade-replacements for the Soldier, and the cuts were transparent. Perhaps I'm doing something wrong (The cutting>extruding>resizing process).
I think they are
I tried doing the same thing to see what's wrong, and I noticed that when I extrude and resize the faces, they are going too far behind the inside faces and making it transparent.
I selected the resized faces and resized them to be on the outside and now it works fine, but without the effect I wanted. It looks the same, though.
1. The normal map should be purply and green. I've never seen a grey one (that's not the ao is it?)
2. If you re-arrange the UV like this you'll get a bit better space usage. I made the obvious outside of the hat a bit larger, I'd probably even shrink the inside a bit more.
The inside is rarely ever seen, so why give it as many pixels as the outside?
just facepalmed myself.
I'm using the AO and modifying it to get the texture I want, and this one was just a quick bake to see how it turns out (usually I am re-arranging the UV and all that). Sorry I'm being stupid over here, Usually I'm just trying to understand things on my own, must have missed something..
So.. which map were you talking about?
