Hi Poly Peepers,

I was just wondering if there was a polycount Skype group? I noticed that the monthly noob challenge guys have one so I thought there might be a general one about or some secret clubs that I could Join

My problem with the skype groups is the contact notifications & audio associated with those whenever there is a new reply.

That can get a bit annoying but can't you turn it off. Doubt you'd be able to do it group by group though. I just find it handy as you normally find a link or two once in a while which is a gold mine of knowledge.

What are people doing on these hangouts? I've never really understood what it's all about. Is it like a stream?

Hangouts are multi-user video chats. The big feature that I think makes it so useful for people like us is the ability to share your desktop instead of streaming from a webcam. So what usually happens is you'll get a few people working on their respective projects trading feedback with each other in real time. Throw in a few dick jokes for good measure.

Its realy a great alternative to working alone.

you can turn off notifications in skype on a per chat/group basis

just go to notifications on that chat window and change it to what you want. You can even have it alert you only when your name is mentioned or other words

@Brandon - Your more than welcome and credit where credit is due. Sure thing, I've only really started out to be honest, so I'm just putting some portfolio pieces together now.I'll help out where I can though. Have a look at adams portfolio, its pretty sweet.

@TrampledUnderFoot - ah thought so, cheers.. "youre name is mentioned or other words" didn't know that. Think I'll have to implement that at work.

Definitely check them out; I'm glad I did. Everyone is really friendly and its cool to give and receive feedback as you work. And if you don't feel like sharing your screen you can just say you're working on stuff under NDA :P (Although its courteous to share your screen especially if the hangout is full and others are likely waiting for a spot to become free)

There was actually a polycount skype group, but I'd be interested in joining another one since that wasnt much productive.

NOTE: I havent been productive this year since I am still learning but would love to join one to ask frequent questions.
