I am creating a human torso from scratch with a realistic look to it. I decided to make an overweight male character as in the past I have made a lot of muscular characters so I wanted to try something different. My progress so far is shown below, any constructive criticism is welcome.
Well the first issue for me are the proportions. If you try to draw a skeleton inside this torso, you'll find something that is too elongated.
Try roughly shaping a normal torso with good proportions and body landmarks, then add the fat.
Use way more reference, and if you find you have difficulty eyeing the proportions from a 2nd monitor, then bring in the reference as a textured plane or use the transparency feature of zbrush with the reference in the background.
