Hey all,
I just accepted a job as an Associate 3d Environment Artist at Crytek USA (Austin,TX) ! This will be my first full-time studio job and I am not only very excited about it but I am also very thankful. I wanted to make a thread to thank just everybody I really wouldn't be where I am as an artist if it weren't for Polycount ...really...all of the critiques of my work, the mentoring, meeting great people, and just the wealth of information poured out everyday for FREE... Hard work really does pay off, I just learned that! never give up! Once again just can't thank everyone enough. I wanted to spread the good news and also if anybody lives in or near Austin let me know! I would love to meet up with you!

Grats dude! I know the feeling and agree at how amazing Polycount is
Good luck in future endeavors, keep doing what you do, and go be somebody great!
Does this mean you're renaming yourself AAAJohnny?
Congrats!
I hear so many good things about Austin, from people both in and out of games.
This is so kick ass!
It seems your portfolio is mostly UDK, did that come up during the hiring process? Crytek Austin is on my short list of places I want to work and I've been wondering if I should spend some of my very limited time to learn Cry Engine or just focus on banging out more art with the tools I already know.
It's about the artwork Jonathan, not necessarily the engine. It's the same thing with 3d programs. Tools are tools. It's about eye for composition and the attention to detail. Presentation is an often overlooked concept. You might have the best art in the world, but if its lit terribly and cropped on the page awkwardly it doesnt do the work any justice.
Great JORB on getting the JERB!!!!
