Hey, looking good man! Your scene is looking pretty boss and it seems like you're going in the right direction. Do you have a scene block out or rough concept or anything like that? I think it'd be worth it to do that first before detailing the shit out of any of your assets just yet. Your lighting I feel could be pushed to be a bit more dramatic and provide interest as well. Also, your roof tiles have some weird shading going on between where it connects at the planks, something to do with the light mapping or normals or something. Anyways though, good start, keep it up!
Really nice material definition on that wood, models are all pleasant to look at. Luke is right, lighting could be pushed more but its early days I guess. The floorboards could do with being a little bigger, they are probably to scale but it feels like they are too numerous at the moment. The metal material being used for the lights could do with being stronger. This is really promising, with a nice quality to the textures, don't stop!
Thanks guys! I do have a pretty good idea of what i want the scene to end up looking like but don't have a block out or concept down, that would probably be a good idea haha. Ya lighting is definitely a work in progress, I'm trying to nail that down right now, I'm thinking of going for a night scene with the primary light sources being a fire in the fireplace and the moonlight with a couple of the light fixtures on or toned down a bit. Good point on the roof pieces I'll have to check on that. I'll work on tweaking the brass fixtures a bit too, I can probably get some more detail in the gloss and spec. I'll scale up the floor planks a bit and see how that looks, I eventually want to get some rugs and additional furniture in there so hopefully that will help break it up a bit.
I think you could push this a bit more with lighting and materials - but theres always more you can do to refine something, but its just as good to move on sometimes
The individual wood assets are very nice. I think the room feels cold at the moment, almost as if the blue from the moonlight is dominating over what should be a very warm, rich and inviting log fire.
Thanks Jamie. You're right the fire light could probably use some more saturation. I have been steadily cutting back on it but I might have gone a bit too far.
