[3ds max] modeling circled shapes and face split problem

Hello,

I've got a 2 questions

First one is about after i deleted a edge loop of my model i got like two face's that i want to connect.. see on screen.

secound one is that i want to model something like on this image (how i can do it):

    I think on the first one you are wanting to use vertex weld to collapse one of those verts to the one above it, those faces are seemingly 'connected' already unless the verts aren't welded..?

    2> Like EQ said. I'd do it in a flat strip then use bend modifier to make a cylinder>

    that way above will warp the arch parts slightly as they flair out a bit, so they aren't perfect circular curves. If that is unacceptable I'd build up to before I made the strip of the part, then array tool and bridge them up which would keep the arch part of them pristine. There is some obvious optimization I could have done there.

    Thanks Guys!! That helped me alot.

    For the 1st question problem was that i've gotted some hidden polygon in middle of that verts. So delete and cap helped.

    Anyway my two problems where solved. Thanks again. :)
