just started about a week ago and am really digging 3D and texturing. Though I would love some critique as I'm kind of learning on my own how to do this right :P
I'll keep posting more as I learn, so intimidating to post stuff on here!
first two weapons made (the sword was first)

to make the stuff really pop start making spec and normal maps for the models
xnormal is a great tool for converting diffuse images into a normal map
also if you could post up the wire frames of the models that would help the community crit how you build your meshes
keep up the good work bubba
and I definitely want to get more into more complicated weapons. Very excited to learn more about maya and build more.
The biggest thing i would say right now looking at this is try to work on combining your shapes into one "true" mesh for example you have 5 cylinders making up the bottom part of the handles you really only need 1 and then you can get rid of the cylinder running threw the middle of the hammer and then you can use one cylinder on top but its looking good so far bubba, trying playing with the extrude tool
On the head of the hammer, try doing some edge work. If you make the edges a bit lighter, it will read as worn off edges, or light hitting the edges, or a combination of both.

If you want your metal to pop, make different faces (not poly faces) have different lightness, especially the big flat planar one should be vastly different than the actual blade edges, you kinda started on that, but exaggerate that more and it will be a lot more metal-y
yay progress!
goofed around a bit and tried to make Super Meat Boy
Tried out create polygon tool from a reference image. Took quite a bit to figure out the top part.
Here is what im working on now, recreating the Monsters University OK dorm room of Mike and Sully. Trying to stay lower polycount and keep a more stylized feel. All textures are hand painted and are taking me so long >.>
ANY and ALL critique, tips, advice is much appreciated. This is probably the biggest 3D challenge ive had so far.

Been working on more environments. Finished the MU one as well a while ago.
Any C&C is MUCH appreciated!
also just finished this one up tonight.
based off this concept
Before: (when i would block out in Maya then move to zbrush)
After but still WIP (from scratch in zbrush):

C&C appreciated. I've moved onto the detail phase and will update when i get to the render stage.
