I have a character model and I wish to mirror one side of the top of his head on to the other side. How can I do this in Zbrush without mirroring the entire tool?

is it just the sculpted details you want to mirror or the entire surface/mesh of the specific area?

Mask the area you want to mirror to
invert mask
From Deformation in the Tool menue, pick Smart ReSym

Keeps freezing trying to resym. I tried splitting the head into another subtool incase it was too many polygons but still does it.

depending on your computer and how complex your mesh is, this can be an intense operation.
another way is to duplicate your subtool, and mirror the mesh from the deformation dropdown in the tool menu
then on the original subtool (unflipped) mask where you want the details, invert the mask.
with your flipped subtool and the original as the only subtools visible, do a ProjectAll from the subtool palette.
you may need to adjust the Dist slider to get the correct projection depth.

Ok, I'll try that. My PC is pretty good but the heads still 500K on it's own so that's probably the problem.
Thanks again.

500k shouldn't be a problem, when I use smart resym, I start at my lowest sub level and run it on each level
