Hey PC,
I had a quick search on here and I couldn't see a pre existing thread like this, so , I was wondering what kind of music you guys like to listen to while working?
I am kind of leaning towards chillout and electro music, the type you usually hear on time lapses of modelling, but I am open to any suggestions and recommendations
Thanks

Tomm - I checked out that Carbon Based Lifeforms song, that was really good. Have you got any more similar style songs/artists that you would recommend?
Can you recommend any like upbeat dub step/ electro music on Spotify?
It seems to have a limited amount of Dubstep on there unless you know names of specific artists who mix it , which I don't lol
Here are a few artists that I like to listen to when working which you guys might want to check out
Hans Zimmer
Calvin Harris
Nero
Pendulum
Arctic Monkeys
Maverick Sabre
Mayer Hawthrone
Eminem
Jay - Z
Jack Johnston
Example
I actually generally work in silence.
Edit: Barnesy, have you tried Lindsey Stirling for something electro / upbeat but a bit different? Try Crystallize first and see if you get on with it
Currently I've been listening to a lot of Buckethead, Blind Guardian, Ne Obliviscaris, Wintersun, Opeth (as always), Devin Townsend Project and Amon Amarth.
Now and then, a bit of prog/stoner rock or metal (Crippled Black Phoenix, Clutch) maybe some hip hop (DJ Format, Deltron 3030) and a bit of heavier electronica/trance (Prodigy, Infected Mushroom, Sphongle) if I've got a long, tedious task that music won't interfere with. Some game/film soundtracks thrown in there, too (Bourne trilogy, Mirror's Edge, VtM:Bloodlines).
Mostly just stuff that's kind of relaxing, chilled out, or kinda creepy. Generally whatever puts my mind in a different place than my immediate space.

And an observation:
Seems like a large proportion of game devs (judging from the what are you listening to thread and the posters above me) artists, programmers, etc, listen to metal far more than the general population, but I don't know why that is (culture wise - I get why people have different tastes in music and I'm sure Metal has a ton of merit and artistry, I just don't know why metal people are concentrated in game-dev). It's not my thing but I feel like I'm missing out on something in the culture there that I wish I was in on.

Yes, i found out that radio shows help me concentrate, i get that felling too.
I also work a lot to tv shows, movies, and Youtube Let's Plays. More so than music.
Also I gotta ask. Does anyone else find Ira Glass a bit annoying? And the Ted Radio hour too contrite/upbeat/utopian. Or am I the misinthrope?
the thread says art...making art.
lol, at first glance I was like WTF?
please add to it if you want. i think its set too public
