3d max - 'quickslice'

When I use this tool it always slices whole object... Is it possible to slice some selected parts, elements without detaching them?

select the faces you want to slice then use quick slice/sliceplane or loopcut.

oh God.. its so easy.. I always tried to select edges:)

Hehe, yeah it's always 'fun' when you discover that your quickslice of that protruding mesh, actually sliced up your mesh that was outside of your viewport. Bundles of cleanup fun.
