@Barnder nah. I just hate max renders I also like the normal map materials that Z Brush uses. I'm going to do a normals bake for the interior of the piano.
Haha yeah I didn't even notice until @WageWT said something.
They are smaller maybe not the size of the concept but I also didn't want to have to resculpt since this is so far in the background.
As a minor point, boards are usually nailed over windows; it's quicker and easier and leaves smaller holes. As an extra bonus, you could have fun modelling hammer misses or bent nails.
@Heather_Bea Thx I'm doing what I can to wrap this up.
well I'm not quite sure how to change the ambient color of the scene inside of the cry engine.
I haven't looked for it specifically. I'm also trying to learn the camera set up.
Crits are very welcome.
PS. I see some of the placement problems.
Everything looks good, but the scene lacks life right now, maybe some more dramatic lighting or a more vibrance in the colors will help to make the scene more dynamic.
love the piano. CE lighting setup needs a bit of love. maybe try wood floorboards? Your wood sculpting is great, be good to see some tiled wood floorboard materails on the floors.
Im just about to start a similar kind of scene, with a piano, where'd you find your reference images?
@gartht3d: thanks man I'll diffidently need to think on the wood floorboards. On the one hand I've been doing my best to match the concept on the other hand wood floorboards sound sick.
and as for images of piano, mine is a grand piano so I nabbed a top view + google
Funny story I was livestreaming on my twich account while I was making this and this guy came in and started chatting me up. Anyways he knew all sorts of stuff about pianos and how they are constructed. I'd build something then check with him constantly. It was truly a thing of beauty. He also linked me to this http://relativekeys.blogspot.com/2011/09/technical-tuesday-piano-lid-props.html The guy was super cool and I'm glad that he put up with me.
This is looking great Alan! I only have one problem with it right now. There doesn't appear to be any shadows being cast on your models? I'd also consider upping the SSAO so you get some 'natural' dark areas where the geometry meets.
Wow man, these renders turned out great - especially for just starting with CE3. Nice! & very inspirational! Were those light shafts done in post with Photoshop? That's what it looks like to me, just wondering.

Working on dents and things for the piano in the mean time. Hopefully more to come.
That piano looks awesome, though. Can't wait to see how this turns out.

I'm gonna keep the floorboards idea on the back burner for now.
vertex painting in Cry is kind of a pain.
Think this is it people thanks for all of the replies and maybe floorboards later on just not atm.
Keep up the good work
@genwu the light shafts are actual geometry I tried to match the shape made from the planks of wood and the window.
I made the news on Crydev.net !!!
