Hey guys, I am working on a game called Monstervania for my portfolio. I primarily do environment art but I have started to like character modeling. The problem is that just like with props, you always want to add more. But unlike with props my characters lack over the top personality in my opinion. I want the characters to stand out with out the environment. I am looking for suggestions on all aspects of my most recent model. This is my 5th complete character.
These next ones were for the mobile version. They were modeled so that I could swap skins with little changes here and there.
Here is a block in of the environment. I was testing lighting combinations. The only thing I actually textured was the character and the middle of the pillar.
If you guys are interested here is some of my concept art. I am handling the programming, artwork, modeling and sound for the game.
Bug Boy looks really fun. The main improvement there would be to work on his facial topology. I was just perusing that part of the wiki and happen to have the link handy http://wiki.polycount.com/CategoryTopology
I think you should further develop the overall form/silhouette of the flipper babies though. More-so than usual characters they're gonna read strongest that way since they're solid colors so it's worth the extra time.
Thanks. I am still what might you suggest for the baby monsters. They are kinda my favorites. Also would adding a back pack to bug boy would be too much.
