Hey,
I am heading down to Austin, Texas for a on-site interview with a studio. I have never been to Austin.. or well even Texas before so for anybody who has been to Austin or lives there, any suggestions on things to do or places to eat? I would love to meet up with people if anyone wanted. I will have one day to really explore. Anyways I would love to hear about Austin.

As far as BBQ, Salt Lick BBQ in Driftwood, TX is pretty great, it's not that far out, just South West of Austin.
Check out the Alamo Drafthouse schedule as well, it's a pretty cool theater chain that serves food & beer. How many times do you get to see Robocop with pyrotechnics timed to go off with the action?

Other things to do is walk the "Greenbelt" which has a bunch of fun spots in it like "sculpture falls" to hang out at and meet other Austinites.
Personally my favorite activity is going to Lake Travis, but that's about a 30 minute drive out of downtown.
Then there's Barton Springs... I'm a water guy it seems..
There's always the museum route too I guess.
And there's those silly segway tours throughout downtown
And there's the Austin Duck Tours bus that drives around site seeing in a bus that drives through the lake.
But yah! If you're here longer as Justin said there's the "AAUGA" meetings at Mr. Tramps each month!
If you have time def check out Master Pancake, really funny guys who put on a good show. They made one of the twilight movies slightly bearable to watch if that tells you anything.
...I miss rudys so so much

Agree 100%
I lived in Dallas forever and Rudy's doesn't really compare to some of the places up there. I'd rather spend a little time in the car and go up to Salt Lick if I was in the mood for BBQ. Though their breakfast tacos are nice.
Austin is a great place to get fat with beer and local food.
But for future reference!
