The Rhynok - character

Hey everyone!
I'm getting set to create a character that I was going to make for the Blizzard Character competition from last Fall; I only managed to finish the concept design, then shelved the idea for a bit. The idea was to create a character that would fit into World of Warcraft's art-style. (I don't play the game, but I asked around and got some feedback, haha).
EDIT: I'm now aware he doesn't really fit into the WoW universe. Just a growing pain of getting better at concept design, haha. I'm excited by some elements of the design though, so I've decided to model it anyways.

Here's the concept I had made:

The goal is to make it a relatively medium-to-low game-resolution, somewhere in the 4-6k triangles range, and use 2 texture maps (both diffuse/normals/spec), 1 for the main model, and another texture for a weapon. If I can fit the weapon in there as well, I may just use 1, we'll see. I'm looking for a cartooney style proportions-wise, but want to incorporate a hint of realism in the textures.

I'll be posting WIPs of meshes, sculpts, and textures. Comments/Critique are welcome!

    I think the feet look a bit too small to support him and/or give him good balance. Other than that I think it is an awesome concept, even though I am unsure about how much he'd fit in WoW.

    Really like the concept this can turn out into an awesome character but I have to agree with Nosslak about that he would not fit in wow. He needs more colors you should look at some wow concepts and in game stuff :)

    haha yes

    @Nosslak and SveinY:
    Thx for the compliments on the concept. I do agree with the needs-more-colors point and will try to infuse some more hues and tones into the textures when I get to them, make it a little more vibrant and saturated / whimsical. Should help with the overall appeal. I'll play around with it.

    Yeah I made the feet pretty small to get a Wind-Waker kind of vibe going on, just kinda something I wanted in there for kicks. Your point's well-taken though, I might scale them up a little, or make the padding/wraps on his ankles thicker.

    I agree that he doesn't exactly fit into WoW -- their porportions are much different, and their armor-styles have a lot more decorative bindings and ridges. I definitely didn't do enough research on it when I made this. At this point though, I'm not too concerned if it doesn't match, as long as the character's got some appeal.

    I'm currently finishing up the base-meshes. I'll post those in my next update along with the start of the concept sculpt.
