Mask Maps help

Hey there guys. Just a quickie; I understand Mask Maps in terms of what goes into which channel and what to do for each I just dont understand how to actually apply the images into the channels.

Are you using Photoshop? If you are you can go to the Channels tab beside your Layers tab, where you can see the RGBA channels just like you would layers. Then click the eye icon beside any one of the layers to see the channels in black and white.

From there I personally make the images in a separate image and then copy and paste them into the channels.

Oh k yea I am. How do you actually paste them in the channels though; thats the part I can't do.

u go to ur painted mask. reduce all layers to one layer. then u pick the select tool and select the whole painted area. then u use ur shortkey for copy. then u select the mask file, go to channels and turn off every channel but the one u need. then u select the channel and press ur shortkey for paste. thats all
