Just my best man who was working for a Ubisoft satellite. Might bring it up if I connect with him again. I don't feel comfortable asking for a favor out of the blue for a book order.

Re: artbook, wonder if the artist(s) used Zbrush for paintover underlays. Or used 2.5 brushes.

I am positive this is pure 2d. Check out the work of Wei Wang, it is quite similar in terms of technique and it is simply painted.
