Cathedral of the Damned

I'm thinking of creating a full scene that will take me 2 semesters to complete it. The theme is a cathedral from hell or more like a connection between the human world and hell. It will be realistic and not cartoony whatsoever but I might try to keep slightly more saturated colors in the textures to make it a little different from everything else I've done before. I don't want to do an Alien cathedral (H.R.Giger).
Anyways, what time I have left of the semester will help me to complete most of the inside of the cathedral. which will be props like benches, pillars, an altar piece, etc.

I'll be using ZBrush for the high poly, 3ds Max for low poly, and the light the scene in UDK. I'm trying to think of a hierarchy of pieces and how detailed they should be. The altar piece will be the most detailed, followed by statues that will be guarding it. The pillars of the cathedral should be detailed but leave some resting areas. the benches, candelabra, etc shouldn't be so intense on the eyes I believe to have some resting areas and this is what I've got so far.

I could use some feedback and I'll post my progress throughout the project.

So far I have the blockout , the bench, the candelabra, and the altar steps
