    I think they meant either in your title, or at the start of your post, say what you`re posting. Are those main character tri counts? Average tri count for characters? Level tri counts? what?

    Well I'm not OP, but every now and then someone asks how many polies/tris they can use for a character/prop/banan peel for X generation/console/game/Mario game. This list could be useful for them, although the thread title might make it hard to find in a search.

    It's probably everything from important characters, regular enemies, levels, props and big props.

    I sent a request to change title to 'List of tri counts for assets in games'

    I think that would be pretty clear, but yea i thought someone could get some benchmark data out of it....and maybe add to it for the newer games.

    That was exactly my point. Obviously it doesn't take a master detective to tell what this is once you're inside the thread, but the title is not descriptive and there is no explanation given in the first post, so if I wanted to search for this information I would be out of luck. It's just a good practice to describe what you're posting, especially a helpful resource like this, so that people have some context and keywords to search for.

    The only thing I've always wondered about is why car games have such high poly/tris count. I mean take Forza Motorsport 4 that's in the list, 500k-1million. What's the reason behind the high poly/tris count?

    Yeah, most car games is pooling a lot of poly count into the cars, since the environment need only lowpoly, because you are speeding by anyway and don't see things in details.

    Pretty much what McGreed said.

    I'm actually quite surprised by Grayson from Bulletstorm. While his character model is incredibly beautiful looking, I didn't think a current-gen game would have such a high tri count for a single character, especially considering how many characters can be on-screen at once in that game.

    Of course, BulletStorm was one of the best looking shooters I've played in many years, so it makes sense.

    Kinda Interested in the LODs.. Like how many. I mean you can have a 30k+ character, but 5 feet away they have dropped down to 19K.
