Hey everyone, Im not sure if this is the right place to post this and I'm not sure if this is an actual problem or if I'm just having a mental block with it. Basically, I'm going to be recreating a portion of Mad Monster Mansion from Banjo Kazooie for my Final Year Project.
Now, basically, I've only ever done indoor environments, so the terrain has always been nice and flat, human built floors. This will be my first outdoor environment and I have no idea where to start with the terrain. I can't decide if I'd be best using UDK's in editor Terrain tools, to maybe make using a plane in max, sculpt it in Zbrush etc.
I have no clue, so could anyone offer any guidance or tips? I really want to start bashing this out and getting my blockout done but my mind is telling me no, not until you've figured out terrain.
It's a bit of newb question, I know, but if you don't ask, you don't learn.

I would go on a custom "plane" for this, and not using udk terrain which is basically a grid, better suited for large terrain/landscape.
