This is the thread for my entry to the October 2013 Noob challenge. I had to make a seperate thread because I'm also going to use these assests for a university project, and the brief states the environment has to have it's own thread on two or more 3D Forums (so please don't delete this thread). Once it's ready for submission I'll post in the proper competition thread.

This is the concept I'm working from:

And this is what I have after about 2 hours work.

It's at a very early stage but comments are very welcome.

Thanks for the heads up, like I said, for my uni project
the brief states the environment has to have it's own thread on two or more 3D Forums
. Hence the seperate thread :)

So missed the Noob challenge completely due to other work taking priority but I'll finish it off anyway.

    Matching the perspective:

    Simple Doorhandle:

Hand-painted texture (need to redo specular and add detail):

Comparison between generated normals (left) and hand painted normals (right):

And an AO shot of the progress so far, mainly all done sporadically over the last week:

    Learning tons on this project:
+ Uses and limitations of Surface Transfer
    + Hi-Lo poly baking
+ Matching perspective to a photo or concept
+ Specular, normal and diffuse creation and purpose

Just going to chunter along completing this but crit is very welcome :)
