Looking for Potential Team Member,
Hey folks, Living Factory is looking for a team member.
I'm GATO, the lead designer and one of the lead programmers in our startup. While we don't only do games, games have been my passion since I first learned how to write BASIC on our old Dell Dimension 286.
While I have many fairly fleshed out game ideas in the works, we're trying to start light, developing an engine and a snazzy little game to prove it on.
The project is something like Nethack in Minecraft where Psychonauts ends up in Final Fantasy.
Get all of that?
THE RUNDOWN:
1. Destructable and constructable environment
2. 3d grid/tile based
3. Hack and Slash role playing elements
4. Characters and classes are synonymous
5. 2d for items and creatures
6. Realistic, horrible world
7. Iconic, silly creatures
Pretty standard, amirite?
We need someone to do 2d art. We're hoping that we'll find someone who wants to contribute and showcase their style, and there is the opportunity to 'own' the look of not just this game, but perhaps a number of other games!
Here's what we need:
1. Someone to do sprite and character graphics, as well as fleshing out our concepts.
2. Someone to do sequential art pieces (somewhat like Max Payne) that are part of story elements in the game.
3. There is also an opportunity to do 3d texturing, as the world is 3d and let's face it my textures are only OKAY, guys.
What do I want you to do?
Portfolios are great, and an even bigger bonus would be if you've done Sequential Art (that is to say, Comics!). If 3d modeling is really your passion, this is probably not so much for you, and I know this tends to be a 3d modeling art forum (thus the name) but it is also just a game artist forum and many 3d artists are also highly capable 2d artists as well.
But here's what I really want: I have some mediocre concepts (that's my reckoning, you're free to disagree) that I'd like to see reinterpreted. This isn't any more than 15 minutes of your time, probably -- but the main thing is to show that you're willing to take action and do something, even if you don't think you're well suited for this. Believe me when we're done, we'll all be well frickin' suited for this.
If none of the characters strikes your fancy, that's fine, no love lost here.
