F3 and F4 not working in Max

Hello.
Since yesterday F3 and F4 (wireframe and smooth/highlights) don´t work anymore. I never had this problem before and no, I did not hit the keyboard override toggle. F3/F3 simply don´t do anything at all. I worked on a project in Max 2012 but the keys won´t work in older version either. Changing from Direct3D to Nitrous changes nothing. F4 does work in firefox to create a new tab, so it´s not the physical button that is gone...
Any ideas on this? Really, any help appreciated : /

I simply hit the functions button on my keyboard (I never use it!) and guess what...
