I'm probably missing something extremely simple... but I'm trying to animate Uv's in maya 2010.
I select the UV's.
I hit S.
I get this error.
// Warning: Active objects have no keyable attributes, or animation layers are present and the BaseAnimation bar is not selected or locked.
Am I retarded? What's going on here?

For UVs, instead, you have to find the corresponding texture file's place2DTexture node and key the Offset channels by right clicking on the field and choosing Set Key. (you can also make them rotate by keying that channel). Generally, anything that has a channel or attribute field in which you can manually enter data can be keyed.
Keep in mind the keys relating to the offset channels will not show up on the timeline (or anywhere else that displays keyframe data) with your related object or material selected. You must have the place2dTexture node selected. You can use the Hypershade to select the place2DTexture node, or simply click on the Select button at the bottom of the Attribute Editor dock.
