3D Environment Artist / Lead

Greetings, I am Chris, the developer of Kenshi, a sandbox RPG currently in alpha stage and available on Steam.

Currently most of my team is made of freelancers and I need more people in-house.
Pretty much all positions need filling, and I have a shortage of staff and an excess of money.

Our offices are based in Bristol in the UK, so you will need to live or relocate there.

I won't harp on about "communication skills" and all that rubbish. You just need to be damn good at what you do. Good previous commercial experience is required, unless you are some kind of absolute genius.

Pay will be based on experience. I can pay more generously than an AAA company and offer stable employment. I'm aiming to create a small well-paid team of elites rather than over-expanding. Being independent also means we have a laid back atmosphere and live free of deadlines. Why are you not working here?

-Environment Artist: The game is a massive seamless terrain. Your job will be to make it look nice, and fill it with interesting things. Strong sense of color schemes and careful texture selection is important here. You'll be responsible for the overall atmosphere, the weather effects, the look and feel, the sights and wonders of the game world.
It's currently empty terrain: you need to make it a living world without destroying the frame rate.
This will involve not only 3D modelling and texturing, but particle effects, level design, color-coordination, town layouts, atmospherics. You will be working closely with the concept artist to achieve a certain overall vision.

Someone with experience as an Environment Lead would be a plus, because the final outcome and quality of the world will be your responsibility. You will have some control to delegate work to our freelancers, and be responsible for controlling their results.

I may also consider other skilled general 3D artists (characters, animators etc).

If you are interested, send a portfolio to chris-AT-lofigames.com.
(Don't apply without including a portfolio)
No freelance offers please, it's a relocation job only.
