more mudbox displacement map issues

I am having some problems with a simple sword mesh in mudbox. When i Export a displacement map the map is great in places ( mainly the text down the side)and horrible in others. Also I have had to re sculpt the sword after mudbox decided it was going to really screw my model up after rendering out a map, and stupidly I saved the project after the map was created, does any body know what the issue would be here? I first thought that the edges running down the blades center were perhaps to close together but i moved these about with no change. Everything is UV'd
with no overlaps, It seems a very simple model but is proving rather problematic.
