Ball bounce animation, little problem

I'm animating a bouncing ball using the squash and stretch principle. When I scale the ball for the stretch or squash part for, say, the 7th frame, it changes the shape of the model in the keys before it into the new scaled shape. I just need it for one frame. I'm using Maya 2014, and I don't know what to do.

You need to set a scale key at the previous key. You might only have position keys set. Go to that frame select the scale channels in the Channel Box, and right click and Key Selected.

If you only want the scale on frame 7 you'll need to set scale keys on frame 6 and 8.

If ypu dont set a scale key on the previous frame the scale will interpolate between the current frame and the last frame where there was a scale key. So doing what onster said will prevent this from happening

Agree with Monster and Mrfred. Also the best thing you can do is Bake all keys and then re-tweak it in graph editor.
