UV Mapping Complex Objects

I'm so sad right now :poly118:,
I wanted to bring a house model I DL, in my UDK project.

And for this I need to create a good UV map for the lightning. And I have no idea how can I unwrap a model that is that Complex. When I watch tutorials it's for Chracters or very simple Objects. I tryed with Automatic Unwrap but when I import in UDK and build the Lightning its very very bad result of the Light (Strange Black Shadows)

It's so annoying that I know a lot about Maps, Baking , Modelling ,Sculpting but I can't handle simple UV Maps and everyone else here have some black magic tricks and can UV map every object.

Sorry for bad English :3

You have to break it down into small pieces, and then you'll see it's actually not complex at all. Most of this is just boxes. Some straight, some rotated (roof).

I guess you're using Maya so for a lot of it you can probably just do automatic unwrap and stitch the pieces together on visible sides with minimal additional unfolding required.

But you're not gonna be done in 5 minutes. And nobody else would be either. Just put on some music and treat it like a puzzle game. I always like to admire my unwrapped results :D

Read the wiki pages. It should be your goto area for this stuff.

At any rate this one will help you the most, Linkage
