Missing Hard drive files

Some of the ztools on my hard drive seemed to disappear. I searched for them with some free recovery software and was able to salvage one but when I try to open it it says that it cant find stuff and that it was made in a newer version even though I'm using 4R6. I don't know if there is anything that can be done, but if there is I would appreciate the help.
