Been working on this for some days.
A britsh version of the sig 226, as used with brit special forces.
Comes with a crimson trace laser grip, an surefire x200 light and eventually a trijicon reddot on top.
Straight forward so far, although some shapes were a bitch to model.

I´m slow atm.. more occupied with distilling booze than with modelling.. lol
Finished the low poly, UVW´s, baking and started texturing work on that sucker.
Textures are an early draft.
Paying attention to hit the material definition as close as possible.
Its a nice mix of eloxated and phosphated metal, plastic and rubber, oil and grime.
I dont want it look too used.. just so that it´s been knocked around.
Nevermind the wonky normals.. somehow the viewport shader in max 2014 screws them up.
they look nice in marmoset and max 2010
Hehe, every Weapon is a new good Hard Surface exercise.
stick with marmo, you can never go wrong
pretty sweet gun though
No spec yet. Just normals and diffuse/ao baked.
The wear on the barrel near the ejection port looks much too heavy, especially given the wear on the rest of the pistol. Also, I'd expect some wear around the inscribed letters:
I´ll take a look into that. However, the ejetion port and barrel are the parts, that take the most beating and therefore have the most used surfaces.
Also, surfaces like the slide are phosphated. This coating wears of rather fast compared to eloxated parts, like the frame.
The wear and tear isnt done on the thing.
So it´s nowhere near final..
Some more work on the x200 and sig.
Tweaked the normals.
Gloss to come. Dont really understand how marmoset works with gloss maps... feels wonky.
tweak the ejection port, added fingerprints and general manual handwear, oil and residue
Well, it´s purple because the elox material on my x200 actually IS purple.
here´s some pics of actual x200´s.
On the last photo, my own realsteel surefire´s finish looks like the second from rights light head. you can see the purple quite well.
Well what parts do you feel look to flat?
Arms are usually kept flat and broad and not super shiny.
Eg the Slide is coated with phophate, wich is flat, or has very little yellowish spec.
might aswell just be the lightning angle, that makes it look flat.
I just used marmosets standard light models, no fancy stuff.
How you are making this? ^^
The Glass, the Light...and so on...
Im asking because my MP5 Flashlight is just a White Circle in Gloss and Specular with a Light Added in front of the "Glass."
So im interested how other people doin this ^^
Ah.
Well my gfx card doesnt support dx11, so i cant really use nice refractions in marmoset, but i use a spare material on it, with spec, gloss and refl settings boosted
transparency set to alpha or such (will look it up).
the reflector inside is white in spec and gloss, making it nice and reflective.
Doing adjustments, fixing nicks here and there.
Eventually thinking about adding a strip of typical brit limegreen snipertape around the grip as it can be seen on the Sig´s sometimes.
The QR Code actually works
Will add an Trijicon RMR for shitngiggles.. can use that part for future projects
gotta do a mount for the red dot..
Havent scaled down the texture of the sight yet.
Was just a quick draft
Did some fixes here and there..
