Hello Polycount Community!
My name is Nicholas Callow, a Character/Concept Artist from Chicago, Illinois. I will be posting my WIPS and Finished Work to this forum thread. I would encourage anyone who is interested in giving critiques, to do so! I take every critique seriously and do my best to address changes that need to be made. So please be as honest as you can, and I look forward to seeing what you guys and gals have to say about my work.
Thanks!

Continued to work on my stylized squirrel character. I have completed the low poly base, completed the UVs, and have started to work on the Alpha hair for the character.
Next step is to continue working with the alpha hair until it is where I like it. Then to create renders and presentations sheets for my website.
Started a new character practice based on an Orc illustration by Chris G. Robinson. I really want to nail the Blizzard art style, and why not try that by making an ORC?!
I am finishing up some freelance for a series of miniatures that I am working on. Once these are completed I am hoping to hop back on personal projects.
My current plan is to take about 5-6 months to complete revamp my portfolio to focus on (3D Stylized Character Art). This is something I have always wanted to do and I have been studying several of my favorite artists and their workflows.
So hopefully I can get some good feedback on my upcoming pieces to ensure that I can have the strongest portfolio going into another round of applications.
The simple guidelines for myself is to become a character artist that can nail hand painted styles similar to Jagex's Runescape and Blizzard Entertainment's World of Warcraft. Both of these games have been huge inspirations for my career.
Looking forward to interacting with everyone here on Polycount!
Respectfully,
-Nick
PS. Looking at my old work is making me vomit in my mouth. Hopefully I can prove I have gotten better!
Started working on a design for a simple character to get the ball rolling on some 3D hand painted characters for my portfolio.
I am calling this little guy the "Gemseeker" and I want to convey that he breaks rocks/gemstone with his fist or his head and consumes the unrefined rocks. Inside his stomach the rocks and unrefined gems pass through and come out the other end as refined ore or gems.
Always open to feedback and still in the early design process.
Goal is to keep the design (Simple and Clean) and shoot to be placed into a game like Runescape, World of Warcraft, or Runeterra.
Working on painting the character in 3D Coat now. Digging the results so far. This is my 3rd paint pass in between days of work. Hoping to continue refining him. Maybe I can finish him by the end of the month?
