Rayman Legends

I searched for a thread on this, couldn't find anything after quite a bit of searching, so I assume one hasn't been created. If not, please remove :)

So, Rayman Legends recently released, and just like in Rayman Origins, this game looks absolutely stunning. I've been playing both for a bit, and especially in Legends the near-perfect blending of 2D and 3D elements intrigues me. Granted, they're using a lot of tricks to achieve the proper look, but they get away with something that turns your screen into a canvas for what quickly becomes a beautiful painting.

Have any of you been playing it? If so, share some thoughts on how they achieved what they did (or maybe one of the devs is in here, if so, a tech breakdown would be awesome if permitted), or simply reflect on your experiences :)

ps: I just went through the "Black Betty" level, and I just had a constant very wide grin. Very few games do that, and for that alone, Rayman Origins' devs get kudos from me.

Origins is the best looking game i've ever played, combined with fun gameplay and beautiful soundtrack.

Don't get the Vita version! It has ~30 levels cut out of it!

Origins is one of my all time faves. Playing Legends on 360 and it seems... Easy. Like, too easy. Like, so easy my other half who can't play games and who has only just started playing, is doing it easy. Part of the fun of Origins was that, at times, it was crazy hard. But this? Its a cake walk.

Also, the musics nowhere near as good aside from a few stand out tracks, and the levels are a bit boring (but I am loving the rapture style shadowy ones).

Its a great game, no question, and I'm enjoying the hell out of it! I just wish it was a little more like Origins. It seems like they toned a lot of it down though :( Also, no mozzy levels outside the back to origins levels makes me cry :(

That level editor is friggin amazing, wish they'd release it so people could make more levels.
Still need to pick this one up, but Origins was pretty awesome (up until the point where my save was corrupted anyways...)

Yeah, I share the conviction that it's too easy. 9 or so hours in, and there hasn't been a level I've had any problems with; I've absolutely plowed through it and completed most levels 100% on the first attempt.

Rayman Origins was my favorite game of 2011. It's also the only game I have ever platinumed. The first half is a little easy..but they know how to rack up the difficulty. I can't wait to pick this up

I played the demo of this a few months back and I remember it was ridiculously easy, though I did only play one level which was a 'forced' side-scroller and felt my hand was being held the whole time. Is the whole game like that or are there just a couple levels like those sprinkled in?

most of the levels are not even close to that tbh :) lots of advanced stuff going on, gameplay mechanics are really well-done the further you get into the game.
The "forced" side-scroller levels are really just there to pace the game, giving you a breather in between some of the more intense levels.

All this needs to be considered taking into account the fact that Legends is not made for 20-year-olds, it's made for 7+, so people above 16 (probably lower, i'm 22), will mostly experience it as a relaxing experience, never really challenging like the regular AAA platformer is, but quite frankly I don't really expect it to. I've been playing it to experience it, and it consistently brings a smile to my face, which in itself makes it worth every penny if you ask me :) never mentioning the fact that the art is perfectly amazing.

Been playing it on the Vita, its wonderfully captivating. The first level had me dragging platforms around for a dude to jump on, tickling enemies, cutting ropes, and rotating the device to get the character to fall correctly or make his way to another ledge. The Rayman stuff is also really fun, rewarding, responsive, and fun.

Great fucking game, and its so gorgeous!!

I feel like I'm experiencing a cartoon as opposed to playing a game with a cartoon style. Love it.
