New personal project Ive been working on. Still WIP throughout the whole thing. The terrible hands are temp and are eventually going to be mechanized in some way... still need to sort that out. Helmet hair is temp also, itll be cards in the lowpoly. Railgun/Gauss is missing stuffs, shoulder straps and a power cable. Ill be posting more as I wrap up the highpoly and move onto the low.
I don't really have any suggestions for you at this point, because it's looking pretty awesome to me. I just wanted to say that I really like her outfit design. I'd so wear that! :poly142:
Not bad, but where's the gun's trigger ? ^^
Just kidding Superb work, very nice modeling and design on all the project.
But i'm still bothered by the lack of trigger
I still miss something that make her a droid?! Mechanized limbs like in Deus Ex could bring this droid feeling or some cables instead of the stomach.
The railgun design looks good, not so standard. I guess you have tried how it looks when she holds it. A problem could be that the gun looks inbalanced in her hands, because no handles are on the barrel-axis. Also the weapon seems to be originally mounted somewhere, seems not to be made for carrying arround.
Mega cool, the outfit is great altho it feels like there should be something on the chest inbetween the hair for the eye to focus on since the design points to there. I don't mean cleavage btw haha, a buckle or fixture like the cuffs etc.

Either way Friggin cool overall tho dude
Nipples, it should be nipples.
This is super cool! Makes me want to open Zbrush and fail at trying to do something as good!
Looks fantastic ENODMI! Really like the whole design, definitely going to go home this evening and sketch up some ladies for my next project haha.
There's only really two things that catch my eye, firstly she might benefit from a bit of asymmetry, although as you said it's still a wip so I'm sure that's all planned.
Secondly, is it just me or are her shins really long? Looks to me like her toes would be where they are if she was wearing high heels.
Digging the mechanical hands idea. As JHS said we don't really see why she's a droid. Maybe put some stuff on the face too ? She doesn't have any other skin exposed.
Weel maybe just the hands and the eyes then ? Could be enough.
I get why people question if she could be an android or female. I think adding subtle hints, such as luminescent wiring under the skin to add a bit of tech into her. Or go the Blade Runner route and have her eyes shimmer http://danpolant.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/06/blade-runner-owl.jpg

Ha, your correct! She is wearing heeled combat boots, so it should be correct. Ill get a profile pict up later so it's more apparent. Ill double check the shin length too. Also, Zbrush has the worst camera. It's completely warping the perspective and making it look like her feet are flat on the ground. The whole image looks a bit twisted as a whole. Somewhere I was reading that they swore by the fact that their perspective is correct and accurate. I generally hate grabbing screen from zbrush and would rather use Mayas camera, the difference is night and day. Seriously pixologic, fix your damn perspective, it's gross:)
Abrvpt - There will be a trigger:) The gun was a test unit ripped from it's mount and modified... Ill get it finished. Most of the parts are sitting in Maya unfinished
Mask_Salesman - Great observation:) Ill try and look into breaking up that deadzone. She will have two straps crossing her chest though, one for the power supply and one for the gun. It could get crowded:)
As far as the droid not looking like a droid, it will soon. I have more planned for the upper torso:)
Thanks everyone for the positive feedback, now I just need to find more time for it...
Awesome work! I dig the design and the execution of the clothing.
I did find something that might be an issue, though I'm really nitpicking here. If viewed directly from the side, I think all the detail in the front of the gun will not be framed properly by the thin top and bottom sections of the muzzle. Maybe try beefing up the muzzle (1.) or try extending the cables past the outline of the gun (2.) a bit to break up the silhouette. What do you think?
Quasar - Good call:) I think Ill try and address that in the texturing by contrasting value/color. Red cables against grey metal err something. If not, the geo for the cables will be separate, so to extend them out further like #2 would be easy. Thks
Character looks really great and you sculpted that all ? Really nice
I have to say im really not convinced at all from your weapon however. I get this mecha style, but there is just no flow in your form, and the functionality is not really convincing. If we say its sci-fi magic and the weapon had no recoil, that is ok, ergonomy well its held by a mech well fine, but the brute mass of this thing would make he fall sideways if she dosnt have pumb in her feet and a counterweight. And the ring on front dosnt really work with the rest of your design.
Your whole form is really blocky, and while you did a really great job putting detail on it and modeling out on a high level, I personally think the initial design is weak and feels not thought out.
Sorry do be the downer here, but saying its all great dosnt help anybody
Shrike - Thanks for the feedback. It's not really a lrg mech gun, and more of a Gauss\coil\railgun thingy... somewhere in there. The first image I posted may be confusing since it's scaled larger than it actually is. This is supposed to be a unit that was taken from a test lab and modified to be held. It has been fitted with a trigger(one pulled from a power drill in this case) since the original would have been remote fired. I purposely made this gun blocky. Test units are generally ugly functional with as many shortcuts as pssible. No time for fancy shapes! oh, the ring on the front is a bash guard, so when a stupid research intern knocks it over, the precious stepping switches aren't damaged. This is all made up, I have no idea what Im doing:)
Grimm_Wrecking - Thanks! I cant wait to get to the texturing, thats when the real fun begins:)
Hands wip. These are still a bit rough, Ill just move on to the lowpoly from here and hit these up with a second pass before baking. Im seeing more small detail, light damage and defining the palm with a more flexible looking material. Some sort of rubber with creases.
This is progressing really well however I think you need to address a few issues with the anatomy of the head.
At the moment it looks like her jaw line is too low as the angle should usually be parallel to the the lips, this is also making the chin seem too big. I think you could also do with adding some mass to the cheek bones as they seem a bit too small at the moment.
I haven't really seen your references so don't worry too much about it if this isn't the look you are going for
barnesy - Thanks for the thoughts, Ill keep them in mind as I move forward. There's funky stuff going on everywhere with this at the moment, I really appreciate comments like yours. It's hard to nail down everything, especially when Im lazy feeling:)
Slight paintover from zbrush. Im not going to take this much further until I resolve the droid aspects of the face. The oustside corner of the eyes is off, the eye water and inside tear duct thingy need sculpted in/ pushed around. Textures/materials will be touched on again later in the lowpoly:poly122:

Subbed.
Overall, a very fine sculpt and can't wait to see what you end up with!
+1
I especially like her suit.

eager to see how it turns out however!
Here are some of refs I used for inspiration:
And damn it, I'm in love with that gun.
