I've been stuck as to what to model next, until I dug up this old concept:


and I thought "Hey, why not?"


14,388 polygons before subdiv. Comments and critique are welcome/needed.

More done. Decided "Screw subdivisions on EVERY SINGLE PIECE!!!" Also threw in a cool little boulder grinder underneath.

Might also add a large inclined ramp leading to the grinder from the arms. Any suggestions/comments are welcome.

Looking nice. I am looking forward to seeing this turned into a nice current gen asset. There was someone who did a homeworld baseturret from the pre-release concept art on these forums. If you do some hunting, you can possibly get some inspiration.

Decided to turn the collector into a cinematic-grade model before making it game-res, but I feel the high res modeling would be done.




The rest of the details I can do in a bump/normal map.

Looks really good man, Love this game really looking forward to the remakes

One small suggestion the back side of it looks quite bare compared to the front, seeing as your reference only has the front side of it its fine but it would finish the look if the back of it had maybe some armor plates or some more machinery type fittings, Other then that looks REALLY good man, keep it up
