Came across John Dickenson's work on Concept Art World and really liked this wall module concept he'd done. All the cable work looked like an circuit board and made me want to take a crack at creating a real-time version.
Just started this in my free time earlier in the week. Going to update as often as I can though, really want to see how this turns out.
UPDATE:
Here's the original concept and my paint over (note the colors in the 3d version dont match the paintover).
That's concept art for a tile set for Unreal Tournament, you can see all of the Necris tiles fo' free in the UDK if you'd like a comparison of the concept vs. game model. I believe that most of the major forms were broken down into individual pieces for construction, and I don't think that cool particle accelerator thingie ever made it into the game
Ah I saw some Unreal stuff when I looked into it but never saw in game meshes, so I just assumed it was coincidental. My google-fu was weak this morning haha.
Thanks for the info, I'll look into that for sure.
By particle accelerator are you talking about the thing in the middle of my model?
I think it would help if the grout in between the tiles was grout colored, because right now it looks a little strange. Also the color of the tiles doesn't line up with the normal map which looks a little strange as well.
Good catch on the texture position, the grout color can't be helped unfortunately the resolution of the map isnt high enough, I should've originally modeled them a bit wider apart
