OK guys, the item is almost done, and i want to thank you for the advice and guidelines you guys gave me on the way. i`m posting 2 pics on how it turned out so far, and i got a few more edits to do on the textures.
Looking forward to see more great stuff here, and even do some collabs if anyone`s interested.

as bio, i thought about something like this:

update!
i managed to get it in game but at the cost of some polis. there fore the textures are all messed up and need a re-work.

my next question: what bone(s) should i link it to? on their site, it says that it should be spear_1 but it remains imoble and as you can see it`s in the rong place.

any advice?

When skinning, did you place the item in the same place as his default item?

yep, i reset the xform, and i 0-ed the xyz coordonates for the pivot

For the bone, the way I did it(sucessfully) was to copy the armature of an already existing armature for the character and delete everything you don't need (model and extra bones). You would need the weapon and root bone. Then you connect to weapon bone to your mesh.

The way I exported it (I used blender) I had X-axis forward and Z-Upward.
I think you should just start from +X +Y +Z and just do trial and error to find the proper direction.

ok guys, the item is coming out great! i think i got it with the masks, but i got 1 last question.

i made my textures at 1400x1000 resolution, but the item requirements is 512x128, and when i scale it down, it becomes REALLY pixellated. It practically becomes useless.

Any advice on how i could avoid scaling the image down without losing the quality? i`m using Gimp and Paint.net for my textures.

You can work with higher res textures, but you have to keep the same ratio... 1400/1000 = 1.4 while 512 / 128 = 4

You can't. That's the resolution that the items have been set and those are the restrictions you have to work to. In future if you wanted to work at a higher resolution and then downsize later you should always work in a multiple of the base restriction,

ie if it is 512 x 128

Then you could work at 1024 x 256.

Except that it's so thin you can't even see it on the close-up screenshot. I'm afraid to think how it looks from the normal camera angle. I suggest you buff it up really hard.

I agree, the blade needs more "heft" to it. It looks like it could break of at any minute.

i made it similar to jugg`s relic blade. i wanted it to look thin and fragile. but it`s made out of who knows what indestructible cristal, just as the kur ishiminari is.
when moving it`s very visible. but as you see, it`s not very easy to spot on freeze screens.

That's a sign of a bad design. You can make it look fragile without making it tiny.
Also, you should translate the design, not just copy it from some other hero who's got different silhouette alltogether.

my intention was not to copy the ishiminari on another hero.
the thing is i like slim weapons for pl. i realised the design was similar to the ishiminari after i finished modeling it, so i thought about a lore that would match it.

Still thx for the critics vlad, i`ll be carefull next time i model. I`m happy with the end result as it is for this one.
