Hi everyone :)

I'm going to work on creating 2 light sources for a fantasy/Romanesque scene -- a brazier and a wall mounted torch. Hopefully this thread'll be interesting enough to garner feedback for as much learning and improving improving as possible! Thanks for taking the time to look and even more if you have something to add!

And we're off!

I have some reference images and a brazier concept. My 2D art skills are very weak; apologies for the lack of detail and sloppy artwork of the concept. I'm working on the torch concept and will post as soon as I have something to show.

    Thanks Amile!

Here's an update on the model progress. I think I'm about done with the silhouette but I'd really appreciate some feedback on pushing the design and mesh cleanup before I UV it and start sculpting. Also, I'm wanting to stick with the vent slits in the bottom of the cone but I'm not sure if I should model them in or use an alpha map -- I'd prefer to model them into the silhouette but I'd really like to get your opinions.

    Thank you all very much!

The small cone at the base of the brazier seems to have too many sides given its size and relative importance.

Conversely, the legs really could use a few more segments; the profile is very rough.
