Pistol Criticism

Hello there. I'm new to this forum, so I just wanted to say hi to y'all first.

I have been learning how to model on my own for the past couple of years, and I think it's about time I joined this forum to help boost my learning and get some good criticism on my work. For my age I would consider myself pretty good at modeling, but rather bad at texturing as you can see. So with all that being said, I would really like as much feedback as I can get on how to improve.

Note. I also designed these too.

Now here's my latest piece:

And here's a revolver:

Try to tone down the scratches in the diffuse and ramp them up with some contrast in the spec/gloss. I think you will be much happier with the results in the render.

The hexagonal cylinder for the revolver just doesn't work - they are round so they can rotate freely while maintaining a tight fit. With the current design, parts of the cylinder will hit the frame as it rotates.

The metal of the revolver is a bit cloudy and uniform atm. Also try to use a glossmap if your engine supports it.

Thanks for the feedback. Yeah i'll definitely play around with a gloss map on my next weapon. As for the revolver, I was trying to make a simple big and bulky gun with 45 degree angles. It's too bad but I think these models are final, but I will work on the textures more, and possibly rebake the revolver.

The chamber can rotate, it just has very close tolerance.

Anyways thanks for the feedback, it will always improve future weapons. And next time I will post WIP's instead of finnish models.
