what you recomend for making a animation and modeling showcase?

my point is,I want to create a character and animate it to put it on my portfolio,and I can decide which will be best

got two ideas I like that are like this

first idea is creating some maya god character,based on a real one which is some humanoid reptile with a big snake as a leg,at first I choosen since it was a simple design and I wanted to work on making realism,however since I am so bad at textures I decided to just stick to stylism so maybe I will make this same character but in a more stylistic way

problem is that since its stand of its snake leg I dont know how much "animation" I can add to it since I havent mastered well how to make a skeleton for a snake like being to work well,but maybe it wont be dificult

so the animation would be more focused on the torso section since my idea was to have it in like a pedestal so I could circle the camera around and maybe make a loop of its animations

the other idea is to create various characters in a style similiar to the songbird character of bioshock infinite,meaning some flying retro punk ww1 soldiers with wings,and making some scenes of these fighting as they fly in a simple airship scenario
the problem is that since they are flying I dont know if it would give "enough room" for animation even if they will be moving while flying,I say it because I read that animations that consist in objects "floating" or flying arent taken into account in demoreels,though these character will have theyr wings flapping and beating each other

also the characters are similiar humanoids with similiar wing mechanics so I can use like the same skeleton or even the same models and just swap some parts and textures which will save me time

a 3rd option is to scrap these 2 and invent some third one,but my basic question is still the same
what do you think would be a good character to showcase animation skills?

I made some animal characters in very low polygon with animations cycle each and friends told me they where nice so I want to do some more like it,low poly,or just not that many poly characters,and simple animations

a previous idea was to have like some gladiatorial combat thing with ninjas or something,since it would be just one scenario and simple characters and fights give room for tons of stuff to animate

so what you recomend?
stick with the maya god? meaning one simple character despite not being too much animation for it

or the winged soldiers? meaning the flying fighthers flying and beating each other around

or the 3rd option wich is a gladitorial combat,or maybe do whateer someone else adds

I havent done much in 3d for some time so I feel kinda rusty and dont have much time to spare so I want to do something simple but interesting to show

so what you think or recomend?
