Maya Graph Editor Issue

I've been getting into Maya's Graph Editor and lately I've noticed some strange occurences.

For example, I cannot move my keys or tangents wherever I want. In normal selection, I can only move them left and right, not up and down. I can't move it up or down without using CMD+Shift+L.Click. I can't move tangents up or down at all either. I used to be able to.

Any clue why I can no longer use the Graph Editor properly?

That happened to me before. I think I reset the move tool, and it started working as expected again. Sorry if that doesn't work, but it's worth a shot.

there's a little button on the right side of the graph editor called "unconstrained drag", that locks the curves vertically. once you click it it works fine.
