Portfolio character critique-Scavenger

Hey all,

I'm working on a series of characters for my portfolio. I've taken a couple of days break from this to let my eyes rest, and coming back to it, its just...Not totally right. I can't place whats so unappealing about it, so if any of you would be so kind as to lend me your eyes, it would be much appreciated.

Cheers,
Payton

My suggestion would be to add a proxy body and head into the scene when you model. That way you get a sense of the relationships and how things fit together.

Also with this camera angle and distortion, it's hard to tell if you've got your proportions right.

You are doing some nice things with the details but I would say it's a little premature... think what is hanging/loose fabric and what areas are tight. What elements of the costume cause things to clamp to the body and where does it allow hang from gravity. Play this up where you can to make the silhouette interesting.

    Hope that helps...

nice detail work, the wrinkles looks pretty good but I'm seeing some problems with your anatomy. the relationship between the arms and the traps, hip height, length of the head, and i think the overall look of the model could use a little more gesture to the silhouette. I don't think you have to beef him up like i did in the quick edit, but a little more gesture would go a long way.

It's looking much better with a body in.
And the left one of his shoes seems a little bigger and different with the right one.

    Hi,

Thanks for the response. Yes, he is wearing two different boots.
